The Writer’s Shorts Challenge puts authors writing skills against one another in seven unique genres including Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Horror, Romance, Paranormal, Young Adult, and Children’s.
This is an opportunity for authors to showcase their writing skills to readers around the world.
Competing authors choose the genre their story best fits in then the stories are voted on by readers from around the world. All stories listed are 2,000 words or less and are meant to showcase each author and their form.
Do you have an idea for a short story? Do you just like writing? Join the Writer’s Shorts Challenge and see if you have what it takes. There is no cost to enter or to vote on the best story in each genre. Readers will vote on the page for each genre by using the poll at the bottom of the respective page. In fairness to all authors entered in the challenge, please read each story in that genre before placing your vote.
All submissions should be 2,000 words or less and submitted in .doc or .docx format. Each work must be original and unpublished at the time of submission. Use of graphic language or sex will exclude a story from being entered in the challenge.
All stories remain the property of the author and the author maintains all copyrights to their submitted work. By submitting your story to Indie Authors and Books, the author grants permission for Indie Authors and Books to post and maintain their story on their website for no less than 30 days after the challenge ends. Authors will specify the genre they wish their story to be entered in. Each story may only be entered to compete one genre. Authors may submit up to two stories so long as they are competing in different genres. Stories should be title for entry.
Authors may include one link to their Author Page, Blog, Official Website, or Facebook page. Authors may not submit a link to a specific book since this is a competition for writing style and not for published works.
Indie Authors and Books maintains no rights to submitted works and will only use the story to publicize the participating authors works and draw traffic to the website for future Writer’s Shorts Challenges.
Submission deadline for all stories is midnight CST 7 April 2013. All stories will be published to the Indie Authors and Books Blog on 15 April 2013 and voting will begin. Each contributing author will receive a link to the challenge pages no later than 16 April 2013, so they can share the link with their friends and fans.
Winners in each genre will be announced on 1 May 2013 in a posting on the Indie Authors and Books Blog.
Winners in each category may use a blurb similar to “Voted Best (INSERT GENRE HERE) Author in Writer’s Shorts Challenge April 2013” or similar posting on your blog, website, Facebook, or Twitter.
