ASMSG is proud of its five members who made it through the first round of the 2013 ABNA contest. So far, I’ve read two of the five books, and let me tell you, these books should be on your currently reading shelf, not your to-be-read shelf!
October Snow, by Jenna Brooks
First, I Love You, by Genevieve Dewey
Blue Coyote Motel, by Dianne Harman
Banker’s Draft, by Clive Mullis
Switch!, by Karen Prince
Today, Amazon announced the authors and books proceeding to the quarter-finals. Please join us in congratulating Dianne Harman for her accomplishment with Blue Coyote Motel. She is now one of 500 continuing in the competition. The 25 semi-finalists will be announced April 16th.
Blue Coyote Motel is one of the two books that I have read, and it definitely kept my interest. Ms. Harman effortlessly draws the reader in, artfully revealing each character’s hopes, dreams, depression, fears and flaws, while incorporating contemporary social issues such as alcoholism, rape, child molestation, drug abuse and widowhood. These issues were tactfully addressed, but dared to be as bold as necessary, considering the nature of the content. The characters all stay at the Blue Coyote Motel and are exposed to a drug called “Freedom” without their knowledge. You’ll have to buy the book to read what happens when they discover they were drugged.
Now I have one last question for you. What are you still doing here? First, check out the “Contact Us” page and request your membership into ASMSG. Then go on over to Amazon.com and buy the books on this list. You won’t regret it. And don’t forget to leave a review when you are finished!
